Recipes!

Welcome! Here there be recipes.

These'll be recipes I've either tried out my self (and might have some notes and recommendations about them) or recipes I want to try in the future. Hope you find something yummy to try out yourself! (also, I'm not a huge foodie or chef or anything, I just like sharing things, and recipes are a good thing to share.)

Some advice if your tired/lazy (have a low amount of spoons on the daily) like me! (click me please!)

Cheat. Find ways to cheat your way through cooking.

Some specific good ways I've found to work for me

  • Using an electric kettle to boil water (great to add water to a yet-to-boil pot, and make it boil faster. Can also be used to cook ramen noodles in a bowl)
  • Finding a specific vegetable and protein that you can easily cut up and add to any dish that doesn't have to be cooked to be eaten (I do non-spicy pepper and pre-cooked sausages. I learned an easier way to cut the peppers and they can be eaten uncooked, and the sausages are usually things like kielbasa, which is ususally pre-cooked. They go great in pretty much anything.)
  • Using a pressure cooker to boil your eggs. Or use baking soda while boiling your eggs normally, to make them easier to peel. (The pressure cooker's fast and also the eggs peel so easily and are less likely to have chunks peeled off of them.)
  • Make a group of spices that you use in almost anything you cook, and have them bunched together. (I use cumin, cinammon (sweet to bring out the saltiness better), cayenne, and basil leaves. I mix and match those, and I can throw them in a lot of things without thinking too hard about it)
  • Use a pot cover whenever you can. (Those suckers are great for cooking things all the way through. Grilled cheese? melted through. Quesadilla? melted through. My heart? melted- wait no)

Recipes I've eaten

  • Magic peanut butter cookies An old recipe that's been brought back to relevance by Dylan Hollis. This uses three ingrediants, is super easy, and is super yummy.
  • Copy Cat Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole This one's from 'Spend With Pennies' (by Holly) and its suuuuper yummy. Easy to do too. Mix and throw into a dish to bake basically.
  • One Pot Cheeseburger Pasta From 'BudgetBytes' (by Beth)
  • Sloppy Joe I get Very Enthusiastic about tomato involved recipes, and sloppy joes? Mmmmmmmmm, yummy :3. They're also surprising good with some curry powder thrown in there too.
  • Beef and Mushroom Country Casserole I was writing some fanfic and had needed a recipe for it, came upon this and used it.... then craved it afterwards for a week. So! madeit, and it was super yummy! Score!
  • Banh Mi I usually do a more personalized version for bahn mi's, like using meatballs instead of chicken, and making a sauce of mayo+hotsauce+maaaybe some sugar sometimes. And using hotdog buns. But! this works well as a bahn mi recipe if you need one.
  • Meatloaf I used to be worried about meatloafs, because of everyone talking about bleh meatloafs. But. They're actually pretty tasty. Pretty easy to do too, if you've ever made meatballs! Except this is a meat log with ketchup sauce slapped ontop.
  • Pasta with Bacon and Peas I like adding in cream and parmesean cheese to mine.
  • Easy American Goulash Beans, meat, noodles. I'm easy to please.
  • Cajun Sausage and Rice Skillet See above, but replace noodles with rice (hahaha!)
  • Spam Benedict I! Am a fan of cooked spam! It's pretty good. I'm bad at making the eggs for eggs benedicts though, but this is nice every once in a while. I like making the sauces waaay too sour too. yummy ^w^
  • Easy Baked Brie with Apples I'm a brie fan and this is just. Brie. and apples and warm and all that good stuff. But. Brie.
  • Kimchi Fried Rice A non-budgetbytes recipe! Egads! Well, just know that this is yummy.
  • Broccoli Cheddar Soup A Beautiful soup to sing about. Pretty easy to make too!
  • Savory pancakes + Okonomiyaki Sauce Yum. Oh, and I like just using the sauce for other random things too. Ramen especially.
  • Pork and Peanut Dragon Noodles Meat. Noodles. No beans but there are peanuts.
